Job Summary

Set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to fabricate and repair precision parts and components for experimental and production gas turbine engines. Select tooling, grinding wheels, feed rates, and cutting speeds; perform complex machining operations including boring, turning, milling, grinding, and facing. Troubleshoot tooling/parts that fail to meet specifications and recommend modifications, while maintaining safe operations and strong housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Set up and operate a variety of machine tools (e.g., jig bore, universal mills and grinders, vertical turret lathes, engine lathes, CNC machining centers).
•Perform highly complex fabrication and repair work for parts and components for experimental and production gas turbine engines.
•Select tools, grinding wheels, feed rates, and cutting speeds; set machine controls and perform precision machining operations (boring, counter boring, grinding, turning, facing, milling).
•Load and locate parts, modify existing tools and holding devices, and adapt machine attachments.
•Analyze tooling and parts issues that fail to meet specifications and recommend modifications.

Key Requirements

•Licensed Machinist or Tool & Die Maker, with equivalent experience including CNC programming (Red Seal, COQ 429a, 430a).
•Read and understand complex drawings.
•Operate a wide range of manual and CNC machines safely.
•Knowledge of Mastercam is an asset.
•Work various shifts including weekends, support occasional overtime/on-call, and be able to be cleared for CGP and ITAR.
