Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead and coach a team of product designers across the dbt platform and CLI-based products, owning the full design process from problem definition and research through delivery.
  • •Define and drive UX strategy across dbt’s product experience, identifying high-impact opportunities and partnering with Product and Engineering on roadmap and direction.
  • •Provide design direction for complex workflows used by technical practitioners, using technical fluency to evaluate tradeoffs and partner credibly with engineering.
  • •Lead design strategy for AI-powered and agentic experiences, designing systems that make AI assistance understandable, useful, and safe.
  • •Play a key role in integrating Fivetran and dbt Labs design by merging systems and culture and building an AI-native design operating model across the design lifecycle.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of product design experience and at least 5 years managing product designers.
  • •Strong people management skills including coaching, performance development, direct feedback, and team culture building.
  • •Strong cross-functional leadership with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Marketing, and executive stakeholders.
  • •Deep care for craft with a leadership style focused on direction, critique, strategy, and coaching (not primary IC design).
  • •Experience designing for or leading teams designing technically complex products such as ELT, data infrastructure, developer tools, cloud platforms, data governance, or observability.
