Job Summary

Support field surveys and site visits for Agricultural Land Classification (ALC), Soil Resource Assessments, and soil-related technical inputs for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and construction projects. Work with the Ground & Water team and partner disciplines, collecting and managing data and contributing to high-quality technical reports. Split time between office and site work, with flexible arrangements combining home working and travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with soil surveys, Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) surveys, and soil resource assessments, including fieldwork, sampling, and data collection.
•Support preparation of technical reports and project deliverables for planning, EIA, and construction projects.
•Support data collection, management, and interpretation under supervision.
•Liaise with clients and stakeholders under supervision and contribute to high-quality technical reporting.
•Work closely with colleagues across Ground & Water and related disciplines to develop soil science and environmental assessment knowledge.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a related discipline.
•Relevant experience in soil science, environmental consultancy, land management, or a related field.
•Interest in Agricultural Land Classification (ALC), soil resource surveys, and soil management.
•Good fieldwork skills and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
•Understanding of UK environmental legislation and strong written and verbal communication skills.
