Job Summary

Lead engineering delivery for a major Australian defence program as the primary engineering interface for project stakeholders. Manage engineering cost/schedule commitments, technical risk, configuration change governance, and incremental capability delivery while coordinating dependencies across a matrix organization. Represent the engineering team in key customer engagements, collaborate with program engineering leadership, and help build international partnerships. Role includes extensive travel to Canada from 2027, with potential Canada-based secondment.

Key Responsibilities

•Ensure adherence to engineering cost and schedule commitments and delegate as required for the A-OTHR Program Engineering Manager.
•Serve as a shared interface between Australian and Canadian government engineering organisations and coordinate engineering outputs across a matrix to deliver the program solution.
•Provide shared leadership of the Program Engineering Team in realising the Mission and Support System Engineering solution while optimising cost and schedule.
•Identify and manage technical risk, support project management with risk management, and present changes to Configuration Control Boards.
•Manage incremental capability delivery and collaborate with other Program Engineering Managers, including extensive international travel from 2027 or potential secondment.

Key Requirements

•Negative Vetting 1 defence security clearance eligibility (eligible to be cleared for ITAR).
•Bachelor’s degree–level engineering qualification in an appropriate discipline with Chartered Professional Engineer status.
•Strong leadership experience working with multi-discipline leadership teams to deliver outcomes to an agreed plan.
•Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic capability plans relating to product and/or engineering development.
•Ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage stakeholders to meet customer and business requirements.
