Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead protocol and pre-construction surveys and monitoring for Crotch’s bumble bee and/or Quino checkerspot butterfly.
  • •Lead focused western spadefoot surveys and monitoring, including exclusionary fencing, artificial watering, and relocation.
  • •Lead focused Stephen’s kangaroo rat trapping surveys and monitoring, including exclusionary fencing, trapping, and relocation.
  • •Conduct wildlife/botanical surveys such as vegetation and habitat mapping and identify/record fauna and flora in the field.
  • •Perform environmental compliance monitoring and support project execution (pre-construction surveys and construction monitoring), elevating compliance concerns as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in a related field (biology, ecology, etc.).
  • •4 years of relevant experience (or equivalency) working in southern California ecoregions conducting surveys for listed species, particularly Crotch’s bumble bee, Quino checkerspot butterfly, western spadefoot, and/or Stephen’s kangaroo rat.
  • •Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification.
  • •US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
  • •Training and/or experience conducting surveys for the listed species local to southern California is preferred.
