Job Summary

Lead transportation planning efforts supporting Baltimore and Washington, DC projects. You will prepare and complete transportation-focused general and master plans, zoning and development standards, transit and corridor studies, and Vision Zero and transit-oriented development analyses. Partner with clients and agencies, mentor junior staff, and oversee compliance and documentation. You’ll also communicate findings through maps, models, visualizations, technical memos, and public involvement meetings.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare and complete transportation-focused general plans, specific/master plans, community plans, zoning codes, comprehensive plans, and development standards.
•Conduct bus and rail network operational assessments, corridor studies, transit and multi-modal facility analyses, and apply complete streets, Vision Zero, and TOD/equity principles.
•Mentor junior staff, review technical assignments, and oversee cross-functional teams to deliver project work, including impact assessments and regulatory compliance.
•Create and communicate project outputs, including maps, plans, diagrams, models, reports, and visualizations; draft technical memos, meeting minutes, and presentations.
•Coordinate public involvement and consensus-building meetings, and support business development and proposal writing.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, civil engineering, urban planning, environmental planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•7 to 10 years of experience in transportation planning, including general plans, specific/master plans, zoning code updates, public involvement, and regulatory compliance.
•Proficiency with the transportation project development cycle and reviewing surface transportation projects and program cost estimates.
•Experience with discipline-specific software including Remix, Replica, CAD, ArcGIS, Google Earth, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketch-Up.
•Strong technical writing skills and ability to present in meetings and presentations, including public speaking.
