Job Summary

Lead and govern the adoption of the “HSBC way” for Android mobile apps, while establishing and sustaining Android engineering communities across multiple teams. Drive improvements to CI/CD tools, build pipelines, and modern Android engineering practices such as automation-first testing, inner-source reuse, secure-by-design, and continuous delivery. Provide architectural leadership, mentor and enable engineers, and partner with technical leaders, product owners, and recruiting to attract and retain talent.

Key Responsibilities

•Establish and sustain the Android engineering community across multiple teams, including cadence, knowledge sharing, and communities of practice.
•Lead and govern adoption of the engineering definition of the “HSBC way” for Android mobile apps.
•Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD tools and build pipelines.
•Provide architectural leadership for Android and contribute to broader mobile architecture alignment, including reference patterns and decision records.
•Grow Android engineering capability through mentoring, communities of practice, curated learning paths, and targeted improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

•BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•Extensive native Android development experience in large-scale environments with strong Kotlin proficiency and modern Android tooling.
•Proven experience as a Lead/Senior/Staff Android Engineer (or equivalent) in a large-scale mobile environment.
•Strong mentoring and coaching capability to uplift junior/mid engineers and support tech leads through enablement and guidance.
•Experience promoting open-source/inner-source ways of working, reuse, contribution, and shared ownership across teams.
