Key Responsibilities

  • •Support a WRC project by conducting literature reviews on green hydrogen production, electrolysis technologies, water treatment requirements, and wastewater/effluent quality risks.
  • •Collect and organize information on water sources (surface water, groundwater, seawater, mine-affected water, industrial effluent, treated municipal wastewater).
  • •Assist in developing water quality databases, data gap registers, confidence ratings, and water lifecycle process maps (sourcing, treatment, electrolysis, wastewater generation, reuse/discharge, residual waste).
  • •Contribute to identifying water quality changes, wastewater streams, environmental impacts, and disposal/reuse options; help support stakeholder engagement activities.
  • •Assist with project risk assessments, progress reports, technical summaries, tables/figures, documentation, and maintaining accurate, quality-controlled project records.

Key Requirements

  • •Currently studying towards, or recently completed, an Honours or Master’s Degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Quality, Chemistry, Environmental Management, or related disciplines.
  • •Eligibility to support Water Research Commission (WRC) capacity-building programmes linked to MSc student participation.
  • •Interest in green hydrogen, water treatment, wastewater management, effluent quality, water resource assessment, and environmental protection.
  • •Experience with GIS, data visualization, statistical analysis, and referencing tools.
  • •Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook, plus strong technical writing and research skills.
