Job Summary

Safety Specialist/Engineer responsible for site safety, health, and security at an open pit mining operation, developing and sustaining safety practices, ensuring regulatory compliance (MSHA/OSHA), and guiding incident investigations and training to elevate the safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead by example in all safety processes, ensuring safe engineering and operating practices.
•Manage and ensure strict compliance and ethical behavior with state and federal regulations in all aspects of the business.
•Ensure on-time and accurate reporting of incidents resulting from Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
•Interact with MSHA / Regulatory personnel during site inspections, accidents, investigations, and records reviews.
•Provide / conduct MSHA Annual Refresher Training and New Miner Training to employees and approved contractors.

Key Requirements

•1+ years of progressive safety experience in chemical, industrial, refining, mining, or heavy construction environments; surface mining experience will be a plus.
•Proven track record of building proactive safety cultures and achieving measurable safety improvements.
•Training or education with MSHA regulations and processes preferrable.
•Deep knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, applied in real-world operations.
•Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills across all levels.
