Job Summary

Perform licensed DOT inspections and preventative maintenance for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment. Diagnose, adjust, and repair advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues using test instruments, road tests, and welding/fabrication as needed. Serve as a lead/consultant for customers and technicians, manage parts inventory on a company service truck, and complete DOT documentation and repair orders using company devices and apps while complying with OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and licensed DOT inspections, including follow-up repairs on trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck and trailer systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic), including specialized tasks like welding/fabrication and parts replacements.
•Inspect, test, and road test vehicles to identify malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
•Manage parts inventory and equipment on a company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation and vehicle safety/pre- and post-trip inspections.
•Document repair work and DOT forms, complete repair orders (RO) with photos using a company iOS device/app, and ensure all work complies with OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination such as 5 years’ experience).
•Pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; maintain a current DOT medical card as required.
•Required certifications obtained within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) and ASE 608/609.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File (including safe driving).
•Possess and supply required hand tools; OEM training/certifications and refrigerated equipment experience are preferred.
