Key Responsibilities

  • •Coordinate and assure telecommunications systems design deliverables for rail projects, covering radio systems, structured cabling, PA/voice alarm, passenger information, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, help points, wireless, networking/telephone, and cabling containment.
  • •Develop and support fully assured designs across project phases, including radio design (e.g., UHF analogue radio, Tetra, DMR, GSM-R, LTE, 5G, WiFi, point-to-point microwave) and DAS/inbuilding solutions.
  • •Produce and verify design outputs such as reports, schedules, drawings, technical schematics, and design calculations, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, codes, and standards.
  • •Deliver and lead large-scale telecommunications projects through site support and final customer acceptance, managing resources and estimating effort for project completion.
  • •Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers, and coordinate with internal/external disciplines and participate in design reviews and audit preparations.

Key Requirements

  • •Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Instrumentation, Telecommunications, Electrical, or a related discipline.
  • •5-12 years of experience in radio/telecommunications systems design, including experience across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
  • •Strong knowledge of cabling standards and best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC) and requirements for safety-critical or safety-related systems.
  • •High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and radio design tools including HTZ Communications, Ekahau Pro, IBWave, and Pathloss (or similar).
  • •Mentoring and design leadership experience, with ability to produce accurate documentation and deliver quality, on-time project outputs.
