Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the development of highway designs on multi-disciplinary projects through all stages of the project life cycle.
  • •Ensure projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements.
  • •Mentor and develop junior staff, supporting their professional growth and career progression.
  • •Support Project Managers with planning, programming, technical input to pricing of briefs and proposals, deliverables, and cost estimation.
  • •Check, certify, and authorise designs, documents, approvals, and reports; coordinate engineering and technician resources for work packages and provide ad hoc site supervision as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in a highway design role.
  • •Chartered Engineer preferred, or working towards IEng or CEng status with a relevant professional institute.
  • •Knowledge and experience of highway design on multi-disciplinary projects and/or drainage systems across the project life cycle, including areas like road geometry, junctions, inclusive active travel, highway drainage, and road restraint.
  • •Knowledge of relevant design codes including the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, and TSRGD, and experience preparing contract documentation drawings and technical approvals.
  • •Ability to use or direct and check software including Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage and/or PDS, and experience complying with CDM Designers Duties.
