Key Responsibilities

  • •Support project accounting for Xcel Energy-related projects and programs by monitoring budgets, analyzing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with billing/reporting requirements.
  • •Manage and analyze collection, recording, and allocation of project costs and revenue to ensure accurate profit/loss and communicate performance and profitability.
  • •Perform lifecycle project accounting in Oracle, including project account creation, budget tracking, invoicing validation, project close-out, and reconciliation of payables/receivables.
  • •Handle detailed accounting for complex project billing events and exceptions, including cost transfers, revenue/unbilled balance monitoring, and variance investigation with reporting.
  • •Partner with Billing and Project Managers for pre-billing reviews, cost estimates, invoice accuracy/finalization, and coordinate subcontract invoicing and payment follow-ups.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely-related discipline (or equivalent proven experience).
  • •5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in accounting and project contracts/change management documentation.
  • •Strong knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods and how to apply them to project issues.
  • •Ability to analyze technical calculations and interpret accounting principles, plans/specifications, and contract stipulations.
  • •Advanced proficiency with technical writing and accounting tools, including MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP) and Oracle (preferred).
