Job Summary

Develop and enhance hurricane and tropical cyclone catastrophe models to assess hurricane risk and potential insurance losses. Apply scientific research, advanced analytics, and quantitative modeling to improve hazard representation, parameter estimation, and automated forecasting workflows. Work with large meteorological, geospatial, and insurance datasets, implement validation and data quality controls, and incorporate emerging climate science research. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and document and communicate technical results to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and enhance hurricane and tropical cyclone catastrophe models, including stochastic event generation, wind field modeling, hazard characterization, and parameter estimation.
•Build and maintain model components to quantify catastrophe risk and estimate potential insurance losses.
•Prepare, transform, integrate, and analyze large meteorological, geospatial, and insurance datasets to support model development and research.
•Develop automated data processing and forecasting workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of modeling solutions.
•Implement data quality controls, validation procedures, and performance testing; document and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree or PhD in Meteorology, Climate Science, Oceanography, Earth Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
•Experience developing, analyzing, or enhancing catastrophe models or related scientific risk modeling solutions.
•Strong quantitative analysis skills with statistical/computational methods applied to complex datasets.
•Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, R, or similar analytical languages, including building tools/workflows.
•Ability to communicate technical information through reports, documentation, presentations, and stakeholder discussions.
