Job Summary

Lead AECOM’s planning consents team, managing and developing staff while driving major development applications through the Development Consent Order (DCO) process. Partner with clients and internal teams to deliver strategic planning advice, oversee project delivery on time and budget, coordinate multi-disciplinary execution, and ensure quality and health & safety compliance. Contribute to business development by supporting work-winning efforts and tender preparation.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and grow the planning consents service and provide line management and mentorship to junior team members.
•Lead major development applications, including the DCO process, and provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams.
•Ensure projects are delivered successfully on budget and within programme timelines by coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
•Oversee planning consents deliverables and implement quality assurance and health and safety principles.
•Contribute to business development strategy by nurturing client relationships and leading preparation of commercial tenders.

Key Requirements

•Significant experience leading planning consent applications for large infrastructure projects across consenting regimes.
•Experience with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process and planning consents for major developments.
•Strong client and stakeholder relationships, with good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working approach.
•A business development mindset, including demonstrable work-winning experience and developing new and existing client relationships.
•A degree in Town Planning (or related discipline) and membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional body.
