Job Summary

Advise Etsy on complex, fast-evolving global regulatory matters affecting content regulation, platform regulation, ecommerce, digital services, product safety/compliance, minors’ online safety, and consumer protection. Partner with cross-functional teams and Trust & Safety to translate legal requirements into practical guidance, lead responses to regulator inquiries and investigations, and work with Public Policy to track new laws and build scalable compliance frameworks. Work with regulators worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

•Advise business teams and support global regulatory engagement by analyzing and synthesizing laws across U.S., EU, UK, and beyond.
•Lead and support responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement matters globally, coordinating cross-functional teams, outside counsel, and regulators.
•Collaborate with the Public Policy team to analyze new and emerging laws, develop engagement strategies, and maintain internal compliance frameworks.
•Provide practical legal advice in areas where regulatory frameworks are unsettled, balancing risk, compliance obligations, and business opportunity.
•Identify risks early and navigate ambiguity with clarity and pragmatism alongside Trust & Safety, Product, Engineering, and business teams.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 196,000 - 254,000

Key Requirements

•7+ years of regulatory experience (or combined regulatory and litigation experience) from law firm, government, and/or in-house work.
•Consumer-facing tech experience; familiar with U.S. and global frameworks on content regulation and moderation, ecommerce, product safety, and consumer protection.
•Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state (New York or California preferred).
•Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to explain complex issues in plain English without legal jargon.
•Strong judgment and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities while leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
