Job Summary

Lead the Machining & Fabrication team supporting Starlink factory build-outs and engineering R&D. You’ll build and manage technicians and automation specialists, oversee tooling/testing infrastructure and parts inventory, and partner with development operations and automation teams to hit deployment targets. Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and efficiency, provide mentorship and technical support, report progress to stakeholders, and provide surge support by traveling to other SpaceX sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and lead a group of technicians and specialists to fabricate, build, integrate, and deploy Starlink factory equipment and tooling.
•Manage tooling/testing equipment and infrastructure, and oversee parts inventory for standard factory assets while driving continuous improvement.
•Collaborate with development operations and automation teams to meet factory infrastructure deployment targets and milestones.
•Provide technical support, mentorship, safety trainings, and feedback to engineering groups on tooling, fabrication, testing, and maintenance.
•Improve factory safety and efficiency through auditing and continuous improvement, enforce area standards, report project status/critical path items, and provide surge support via travel as needed.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience in machining, maintenance, or production/manufacturing, or 5+ years in those areas in lieu of a degree.
•2+ years of professional experience managing a team or leading projects.
•Comprehensive knowledge of conventional machining, CNC programming, machining operations, and quality inspection procedures.
•Experience with welding techniques, fabrication processes, and precision mechanical assembly operations.
•Knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution (low and high voltage), and pneumatics, plus experience working with electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
