Job Summary

Design review, installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems that safeguard NIPSCO electric transmission, distribution, and generation infrastructure. Conduct P&C troubleshooting, investigate protection operations and electric system events, and support startup/commissioning of new T&D equipment. Ensure NERC compliance through documentation and requirement reviews, perform field acceptance and maintenance testing, and train less-experienced field engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Review project design drawings and verify field wiring to ensure compliance with proper relaying practices and NIPSCO standards.
•Design protection/control logic and originate protective relaying schematics for new substations and renovation projects.
•Perform acceptance, calibration, functional testing, and final load checks of protective relays and control schemes.
•Conduct scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and field acceptance testing of substation electrical equipment and monitoring/controls systems.
•Investigate electric system events and protection operations, document results, and support NERC compliance activities.

Travel: Medium travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 113,500 - 170,300 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
•Knowledge of electric engineering and ability to read/interpret drawings and standards.
•Ability to research technical design issues, evaluate alternatives, and prepare and present recommendations.
•Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and engineering technical principles.
•Valid Driver’s License.
