Job Summary

Lead and deliver Building Technology Systems projects in Chicago as AVP, overseeing a BTS team designing telecommunications and electronic safety systems for buildings; manage client requirements, design narratives, construction documents, budgets, and cross-disciplinary coordination with MEP, AV, and security stakeholders. Drive business development, mentor consultants, and ensure compliance with NEC/IBC/NFPA and standards, including on-site surveys and meetings to ensure project success from inception to close-out.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide designs for Telecommunications systems (Structured cabling systems, Telecom spaces and pathway infrastructure) and Electronic Safety & Security systems (IP video surveillance, access control, intercom).
•Lead a BTS team of consultants to deliver projects from inception to completion, coordinating with clients and design teams.
•Create design narratives and coordinated construction documents (Drawings and CSI Specifications) and manage project resources.
•Coordinate, host and participate in project meetings (local and out-of-town) with the design team and clients, and respond to submittals and RFIs.
•Perform site surveys to document construction progress and ensure integration of security and telecommunications systems with other building systems.

Key Requirements

•Possess a four-year degree (B.S. in engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of technical degree and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings.
•Ten plus years’ experience actively designing high performance systems for US Federal Projects and the AEC consulting and engineering industry in general.
•Experienced BTS team leader capable of leading a team of consultants from inception to completion.
•Proven ability to market capabilities, win work, build and manage a team of consultants delivering high quality work.
•U.S. Security clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance is required.
