Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, develop, and deploy software solutions for the Canva editor by partnering with engineering leads, designers, and product managers.
  • •Rebuild core editor foundations primarily in TypeScript, with opportunities across React Native and native surfaces.
  • •Drive measurable performance improvements using performance data, instrumentation, dashboards, and evidence-based prioritization.
  • •Build tools, frameworks, and libraries that enable other engineers to create performant features.
  • •Own complex technical problems by breaking initiatives into achievable parts and driving work from idea through delivery, while sharing knowledge across teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong commercial software engineering experience building complex, large-scale applications, SDKs, or APIs.
  • •Deep TypeScript experience with comfort working in large, long-lived codebases and reasoning about systems and types.
  • •Contributed to architecture decisions and enjoys solving complex engineering problems in addition to implementing within patterns.
  • •Strong performance mindset: instrument metrics, interpret dashboards, and use evidence to prioritize and demonstrate impact.
  • •Comfort with performance fundamentals like asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns; experience with browser rendering and event handling is a plus.
