Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and maintain backend services for the data layer that stores and serves Camunda 8 process data across relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
  • •Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives by partnering with Product Management and senior colleagues to turn requirements into solution designs and execute timely delivery.
  • •Evolve how process data is processed, retained, and exposed so customers can work with their data the way they need.
  • •Improve performance and scalability of secondary storage systems and build tooling to understand, troubleshoot, and safely operate the data layer in production.
  • •Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations, partnering with Support and SRE to investigate production issues and feed learnings back into the product.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 4 years of experience as a backend engineer focused on backend systems and production data stores.
  • •Hands-on experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL, or Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, including query performance, indexing, and data modeling trade-offs.
  • •Ability to break down requirements into concrete tasks, write clear technical designs, and deliver reliably on complex engineering initiatives.
  • •Comfort investigating slow queries, execution plans, and index usage to root-cause data-related production issues.
  • •Strong communication and collaboration in a remote-first environment, including clear feedback in code review.
