Job Summary

Operate orbital (autogenous and wire-fed) welding equipment to join stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing, vacuum components, and fittings for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Read work orders, blueprints, WPS, and P&ID drawings to determine weld sequences and acceptance criteria. Perform mechanical assembly and repair, inspect and leak-test finished welds, maintain accurate production records, and support continuous improvement in a cleanroom-adjacent environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Set up and operate orbital welding equipment to join stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing, fittings, and vacuum components to quality standards.
•Read and interpret work orders, operation method sheets, blueprints, WPS, and P&ID drawings to determine weld sequence and acceptance criteria.
•Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair vacuum, gas delivery, and pneumatic subassemblies.
•Inspect finished welds visually and with precision measuring and leak-detection instruments; document and correct defects.
•Maintain welding equipment (heads and power supplies), keep travelers/records in production tracking systems, and follow safety procedures.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate degree in welding technology, machining, or related trade strongly preferred.
•Complete a formal welding/orbital welding training program (trade school, apprenticeship, or military) preferred.
•3-5 years of hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, or high-purity fabrication environment.
•Current or attainable welder certification such as AWS D1.1/D1.6 or ASME Section IX, with ability to recertify to specific weld procedures.
•Basic computer literacy for data entry into manufacturing execution systems (MES/ERP).
