Job Summary

Seagoing Second Engineer responsible for planned and emergency maintenance of propulsion, auxiliary and deck machinery, boilers and related systems aboard Serco vessels. Supervises engine room activities, coordinates with the Chief Engineer, ensures safe, clean, and compliant operations, and supports a multi-skilled shipboard team from Kyle of Lochalsh with opportunities to live afloat.

Job Function: Solutions Engineering & Sales Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Carry out planned maintenance, emergency maintenance and repair work for continuous survey of propulsion, auxiliary and deck machinery, air conditioning, domestic installations, boilers, fittings and structures.
•Personally supervise work on main engine and auxiliaries to ensure a planned and coordinated performance of maintenance duties.
•Keep the Chief Engineer advised of maintenance progress at all times.
•Ensure machinery and machinery area is kept as clean as possible, with engine room stairs, ladders and walkways kept clear at all times.
•Monitor, control and document the use of spare parts and stores; liaise with ship’s staff to provide feedback and early warning on hazards.

•STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course).

•STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course).
