Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead legal support for the most complex business matters across Commercial Lines, Excess & Surplus, and Specialty, serving as primary business unit counsel.
  • •Provide strategic legal counsel on commercial insurance operations, wholesale/distribution relationships, shared-services functions, business transformation, third-party relationships, data/technology, regulatory requirements, insurance products, and contracts.
  • •Identify and assess potential legal risks, align OCLO support to business objectives, and foster deal efficacy across small commercial, middle market, wholesale, programs, and shared services.
  • •Engage with senior leaders (Presidents, SVPs, VPs, AVPs and others) on underwriting, product, distribution, claims, portfolio opportunities, and shared-services initiatives to support risk mitigation.
  • •Coordinate with subject-matter legal partners and OCLO teams to deliver consistent guidance; lead CLESS Legal leadership priorities and cross-team collaboration across P&C Legal projects.

Key Requirements

  • •Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • •Minimum fifteen years of deep insurance underwriting, commercial insurance, wholesale/distribution, and regulatory experience.
  • •Must be fully licensed in accordance with OCLO policy, in good standing, and comply with continuing legal education requirements in the state(s) where you practice.
  • •Strong legal verbal and written communication skills for all levels of management and clients, plus analytical ability to interpret statutes, regulations, insurance policies, and contracts.
  • •Demonstrated leadership skills to lead cross-functional projects and coach/support team members.
