Key Responsibilities

  • •Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements (including ICC and NFPA) to guide design decisions.
  • •Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
  • •Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
  • •Design and support fire protection and life safety systems (sprinkler systems, detection and alarm, smoke management, and egress systems).
  • •Commission systems, prepare technical reports/specifications, and support proposals, budgets, quality control, and mentoring.

Key Requirements

  • •7 to 10 years of relevant post-education engineering experience and prior fire and life safety design experience.
  • •Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering (or related engineering discipline) with a P.E. license.
  • •Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • •Experience designing fire protection engineering systems using applicable design applications.
  • •Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
