Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the roadmap for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling and codegen, balancing short-term fixes with long-term foundations.
  • •Mature mobile release and deployment tooling, including OTA and staged rollouts, to ensure predictable shipping.
  • •Lead staged migration of mobile repos into Canva’s monorepo, maintaining build, test, and release continuity.
  • •Set quality gating strategy across the build pipeline so reliability and speed issues surface early.
  • •Evolve the React Native build pipeline into a shared cross-platform foundation and mentor engineers on the standards you define.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep hands-on expertise with build systems at production scale, including Bazel (and experience with Gradle and/or Xcode).

  • •Strong native mobile engineering background in iOS, Android, or both, with clear perspective on cross-platform tooling trade-offs.
  • •Experience owning CI/CD quality gates and release pipelines that other teams depend on.
