Job Summary

Lead footwear material development end-to-end by ensuring availability of innovative materials aligned to marketing and design direction. Drive material selection, consolidation, and continuous improvement of global internal processes and initiatives, and represent the Materials Development Team on management level. Partner across Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Quality, Sustainability, Suppliers, and IT to build tools, reports, and accurate material data that enable fact-based, faster product decisions.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as the key contact and consultant for material-related questions across interfaces.
•Lead cross-functional discussions on materials topics, steer material selection, and drive material consolidation to improve efficiency.
•Collaborate across teams to identify material management information needs and develop tools and reports for faster material and product decisions.
•Ensure materials data availability and accuracy in internal administration systems and manage in-depth reporting.
•Initiate and monitor seasonal material developments with suppliers, including early price negotiations and proto sampling yardage bookings, while ensuring selected materials meet testing and adidas quality standards.

Key Requirements

•4+ years of relevant work experience in material development or an associated field.
•College/university degree or comparable education in engineering, preferably chemical engineering or related fields.
•Advanced knowledge of the footwear creation process, including identifying material-related issues and proposing alternatives.
•Strong communication and presentation skills with an influencing mindset for cross-functional alignment.
•Strong IT skills (e-mail, MS Office) and ability to work with internal material databases and reporting tools; experience with 3D creation is preferred.
