Forecast and identify weather changes that could impact USAFA mission operations and training, supporting flight and jump training, NCAA athletic events, and military academy activities. Deliver accurate forecasts for soaring, parachute, and powered-flight operations under rapidly changing conditions. Collect and interpret meteorological data, produce mission-ready weather products under strict deadlines, perform quality control, and communicate risks and warnings to leadership and supported units.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide weather support to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), including mission-focused support for flight and jump training and related academy events.
•Deliver accurate forecasts for soaring, parachute, and powered-flight operations in rapidly changing weather conditions.
•Collect, analyze, and interpret meteorological data to assess and mitigate mission impacts in a fast-paced environment.
•Produce timely, actionable weather products under strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
•Disseminate weather warnings, watches, advisories, observations, and forecasts; perform quality control; provide briefings and communicate weather risks and mission impacts to leadership.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 33.73 hourly

Key Requirements

•Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and pass a Public Trust background check.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in DoD Weather Stations or National Weather Service Forecast Offices.
•Must have graduated from an Air Force Weather Forecasting School (or DoD equivalent).
•Must be able to work various shifts as needed or when needed.
•Familiarity with high-resolution models and ensemble forecasting, with experience in mountain forecasting.
