Job Summary

Maintain and repair a fleet of heavy equipment for a portable paving crew and quarry operations. Diagnose malfunctions in heavy duty diesel engines, manual transmissions, electronic engine controls, and electrical/hydraulic systems; rebuild, replace, weld, and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Work flexible shifts in the field, follow detailed work instructions, keep time/parts records, and adhere to safety procedures under OSHA/MSHA while reporting to the Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform heavy equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in the field, including preventive maintenance.
•Diagnose defects by inspecting machines/equipment and analyzing malfunctions; rebuild/maintain equipment.
•Replace defective engines and subassemblies (e.g., transmissions) and test overhauled equipment for operating efficiency.
•Weld broken parts and structural members; conduct dismantling/reassembly using hoists and hand tools.
•Maintain time/parts records and keep work/maintenance areas clean while following safety requirements.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of heavy equipment experience with computer diagnostic ability.
•Ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy duty diesel engines, manual transmissions, and electronic engine controls.
•Ability to weld and use torches; perform dismantling/reassembly using hoists and hand tools.
•Strong mechanical skills with ability to interpret written/oral instructions and define problems and conclusions.
•Must own tools; pass drug screen, criminal background check, and Fit for Work physical; maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel/work away from home.
