Key Responsibilities

  • •Developing and checking hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments and reservoir studies
  • •Develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial or chemical) using industry standard software (MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM)
  • •Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches considering risks and opportunities for each project
  • •Undertake and check hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP
  • •Lead and input into tenders ranging from one-off projects to multimillion-pound framework contracts

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (e.g., Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, and/or TUFLOW)
  • •Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood models used in flood risk assessments
  • •Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality and regulatory standards for fresh waters
  • •Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • •Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline; professional qualification with CIWEM or equivalent preferred
