Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead regulatory compliance application for Metal Packaging across EMEA, translating legislative changes (e.g., PPWR and REACH) into practical guidance for the business.
  • •Own customer compliance communications by authoring and validating Declarations of Compliance (DoC) and technical position papers, and presenting compliance topics and risk assessments in major customer meetings.
  • •Oversee regulatory approval of metal packaging materials (coatings, inks, compounds) and coordinate supplier governance through participation in Supplier Quality Audit (SQA) activities, including on-site audits and third-party testing coordination.
  • •Conduct horizon scanning of regulatory developments, represent interests in trade associations (MPE, JIG), and provide executive summaries to support decision-making and mitigation strategies.
  • •Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the Food Contact Compliance Analyst, manage workload prioritization, mentor the team, and maintain the Regulatory Information Centre (SharePoint) as a single source of truth.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • •In-depth knowledge of EU Food Contact legislation (e.g., Framework Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004) and global chemical standards (REACH/CLP), plus EU packaging regulations (PPWR and Conflict Minerals).
  • •Experience influencing industry bodies or trade associations (e.g., MPE, JIG) to protect business interests.
  • •Experience supporting data-driven decisions on material safety affecting production, sales, and brand reputation.
  • •Ability to manage and prioritize technical workloads while mentoring others, and to monitor regulatory developments and communicate potential impacts.
