Job Summary

Automation & Controls Specialist to design, build, integrate, commission, and continuously improve automation systems in SpaceX's tool & die shop. You will deliver production-ready electromechanical automation solutions, build control panels to NFPA 79/UL 508A, and develop PLC/HMI software to support Starlink manufacturing in a fast-paced environment.

Job Function: Industrial, Process & Manufacturing Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Integrate, commission, and troubleshoot electromechanical automation systems, collaborating closely with engineering to deliver production-ready solutions
•Develop and build new automation solutions while improving existing assets to meet evolving production requirements
•Read and use system-level schematics (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic)
•Design, build, and wire industrial control panels to NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards
•Design, implement, and commission PLC and HMI software applications using ladder logic and structured text

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalency with 2+ years in a manufacturing/automation environment; OR bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or science
•2+ years of hands-on automation or controls experience in manufacturing
•Hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience (Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix/Logix5000)
•Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting industrial control panels and automation systems; reading electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics
•Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, UL 508A; ability to read electrical schematics using EPLAN/AutoCAD Electrical/Visio/NX/SolidWorks
