Key Responsibilities

  • •Accurately locate and mark company natural gas transmission & distribution systems, service lines, and other facilities to prevent damage.
  • •Read and interpret system maps and ensure company maps and records are accurate for damage prevention purposes.
  • •Coordinate with company crews and outside contractors for needed remarking and investigate natural gas facility damages to determine root causes.
  • •Maintain working relationships with area excavators, municipalities, and company personnel involved in excavation activities; report suspected damages.
  • •Maintain accurate records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements, address safety and encroachment issues, and assist other operations as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in natural gas, damage prevention activities, service, construction and maintenance, and/or pipeline operations.
  • •Obtain and maintain required Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training/certifications within six months, and maintain a valid driver’s license per company standards.
  • •Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate, persuade, and/or influence internal and external customers.
  • •Ability to use the company internet/intranet, take and upload digital photos of marking activity to line locate tickets, and use systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • •Safety-sensitive role requiring DOT/PHMSA-outlined drug testing and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks; must be able to perform physical demands including lifting up to 45 pounds.
