Key Responsibilities

  • •Review and design transmission line plan and profile drawings to ensure compliance with client standards and NESC/other standards.
  • •Develop line design deliverables including plans and profiles and cross-section details, plus insulation/A/C interference, static wire, and grounding studies.
  • •Lead transmission line routing and strategy for capital projects, including rebuild vs. right-of-way decisions and routing into congested stations.
  • •Develop technical specifications and QA/QC procedures, deliverable templates, and other methods to improve efficiency.
  • •Coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines and support construction design reviews and timely, on-budget delivery of design packages.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience with mechanical design and transmission line design experience.
  • •2+ years post-education experience, preferably with transmission line design with voltages up to 115 kV HVAC.
  • •Knowledge of codes and standards such as NESC, AISC, IEEE and ANSI.
  • •Experience with finite element modeling within PLS-CADD (including POLE & TOWER) and foundation design tools such as MFAD, HFAD, L-PILE, plus AutoCAD and MicroStation (PSCAD is a plus).
