Job Summary

Ideate, prototype, and transfer new experimental concepts for AI-driven research in soft and complex materials. Partner across chemistry, materials, and AI teams to define formulation and structure–property relationships, build characterization and performance workflows using SAXS/SANS and rheology, and develop custom apparatus plus software-enabled systems. Scale successful prototypes into production-ready workflows within the AI Science Factory platform to enable autonomous experimentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Collaborate with scientific teams to ideate experimental strategies for soft and complex materials, including formulations and biological/hybrid systems.
•Lead conceptual development of characterization and performance workflows using techniques such as SAXS, SANS, rheology, and performance assays.
•Design, prototype, and validate custom apparatus, experimental methods, and software tools.
•Develop workflows connecting structure, dynamics, and performance across length and time scales.
•Transfer successful prototypes into production-ready AI Science Factory systems for autonomous experimentation.

Salary: USD 108,000 - 150,000

Key Requirements

•MS or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on soft or complex materials.
•Demonstrated experience collaborating across scientific disciplines to generate and refine experimental concepts.
•Hands-on experience with SAXS, SANS, rheology, formulation performance, or functional assays.
•Experience designing and implementing custom experimental workflows and/or scientific software.
•Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) applied to data analysis, automation, or experiment control.
