Job Summary

Senior Data Scientist with strong engineering skills to join Zurich’s global Commercial Insurance team. You will develop and deploy AI/LLM-powered analytics, build production-grade data pipelines, and collaborate across product, engineering, and business users to solve underwriting challenges. You’ll work on end-to-end AI solutions, leverage cloud models, and mentor junior teammates in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities

•End-to-end responsibility for high impact projects and their success
•Evaluate and apply cloud and foundation model capabilities (e.g., Azure OpenAI and open-source models) to solve business problems, including RAG, tool-use/agents, and orchestration
•Generate insights from internal and external data sources using tools and methodologies from Spark/Databricks to applying LLMs, retrieval, embeddings, and classical ML/statistics, and extending front-end applications
•Build applications from proof of concepts to full-scale solutions, including portfolio management tools and API services embedded in underwriting processes
•Ensure production reliability by building/optimizing data pipelines and expanding automation (e.g., web scrapers, automated user alerts) and models

Key Requirements

•Experience across data science and data engineering delivering production-grade analytics/AI applications
•Hands-on experience building LLM applications (prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector stores, evaluation & guardrails, cost/performance tuning) and willingness to engineer the full stack to production
•Familiarity with agentic patterns (tool use, planning, function calling, document workflows) and LLM orchestration frameworks
•Solid statistical foundations (e.g. regression, time series, uncertainty estimation) and proficiency with Dataframe APIs (Spark or Pandas) and SQL
•Strong Python (production-grade); Java and/or Scala are a plus; scripting languages such as Python, R, bash; experience across all stages of the software development lifecycle
