Key Responsibilities

•Identify signals tracking AI R&D acceleration and design evaluations to measure them.
•Build quantitative models of capability growth and self-improvement dynamics using evaluation and telemetry data.
•Run experiments and evals to test hypotheses about automation and capability.
•Make research bets, own the outcomes, and set/shape research direction (at senior level).
•Write graded assessments for internal decision-makers and public reporting, collaborating across research and policy teams.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 350,000 - 850,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Have hands-on research experience on large language models, including pretraining, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning (RL), evals, or agent systems.
•Strong quantitative instincts with comfort performing quantitative modeling and reasoning.
•Experience with forecasting (e.g., publishing AI forecasting scenarios).
•Ability to design an evaluation from a vague question and defend the methodology.
•Write clearly and calibrate conclusions (state confidence and what would change them).
