Job Summary

Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance for a metal recycling facility, driving health & safety, environmental compliance, inventory accuracy, and quality control. Partner with commercial and transportation teams to meet production and material quota targets, forecast monthly output, and coordinate inter-yard material movement. Lead continuous improvement, manage CAPEX/operating budgets, ensure SOX-aligned controls, and supervise facility staff and production/maintenance teams to achieve safe, efficient performance.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive health & safety and environmental compliance for assigned facility locations, including monitoring programs and guiding corrective action after incidents.
•Oversee operations and maintenance across departments to meet negotiated production levels and facility goals.
•Forecast monthly production with the General Manager and Commercial group, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
•Maintain accurate material inventories and quality control, coordinating with commercial and transportation teams to ensure timely transfers/shipments.
•Supervise facility staff, review performance of direct reports, and support hiring and job-description development with HR.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 5-10 years of experience in steel scrap yard operations with familiarity with physical operations and personnel.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to drive an automobile.
•Demonstrated leadership, analytical thinking, organization, and strong communication skills with intermediate computer competency.
•Knowledge of operations and ability to apply logical thinking to practical problems with many variables.
•College degree preferred; business/operations management coursework helpful; project management experience a plus.
