Job Summary

Build and maintain backend services for event-driven financial accounting on the Pismo platform. Design scalable microservices that translate financial movements into accurate accounting entries based on client configuration and rules. Work with Product, Engineering, and QA to deliver reliable, secure solutions, leveraging AWS messaging and data services, Terraform for infrastructure, and strong testing and observability practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, develop, and maintain backend services primarily in Java (Go is a plus) using clean code and strong engineering practices.
•Build scalable, reliable, and secure microservice architectures for high-volume financial transactions.
•Implement event-driven solutions that ensure data consistency and traceability for accounting use cases.
•Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and support AWS-based services and cloud-native components.
•Write unit/integration/end-to-end tests, monitor observability signals (metrics, logs, alerts, tracing), and participate in code reviews.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with an advanced degree, or 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
•5+ years as a software engineer with strong backend experience using Java.
•Experience with microservices and distributed systems, including reliability and scalability tradeoffs.
•Knowledge of AWS and cloud-native architectures, plus relational database concepts and data modeling.
•Experience with Terraform and CI/CD tooling, and a testing culture covering unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
