Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide daily detailed forecasts for night operations and support telescope weather requirements.
  • •Interpret and validate numerical weather prediction data (GFS, ECMWF, HRRR, NAM) and communicate results to decision-makers.
  • •Work with onsite weather sensors and recommend improvements to instrumentation and visualizations.
  • •Perform analysis, modeling, and interpretation of adaptive optics systems and develop/validate complex optics and optical system models.
  • •Analyze meteorological data, write technical reports, maintain a climatology database, and conduct experiments using small telescopes and meteorological equipment.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or another natural science discipline.
  • •2+ years of experience analyzing large datasets.
  • •2+ years of programming experience in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Fortran, Java, Mathematica, or C++.
  • •2+ years of experience forecasting meteorological parameters.
  • •Ability to work variable shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekends, and to communicate technical results to leadership.
