Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and operate the LiveKit SFU and real-time media distribution mesh, including reliability and on-call.
  • •Build new real-time systems from first design through production to support customer-facing features.
  • •Drive down latency and improve call quality across sessions on the platform.
  • •Assess and adopt modern media and transport protocols, including MoQ/WARP.
  • •Partner with client SDK, infrastructure, and product teams on cloud mesh architecture and cross-cutting reliability work as an internal expert.

Key Requirements

  • •Built real-time media systems and pipelines relied on by real customers, and you wrote the core code (not just integrations).
  • •Strong knowledge of the WebRTC stack, including ICE, DTLS-SRTP, RTP/RTCP, congestion control, and SDP negotiation.
  • •Comfort as a systems programmer in Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, or C# (Go preferred).
  • •Design asynchronous, multi-threaded systems and debug them under production load.
  • •Communicate clearly and operate with high individual ownership on a small team.
