Key Responsibilities

  • •Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify features of interest for EOS and internal needs.
  • •Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests; review and contribute to functional/design specifications.
  • •Build automated tests and test infrastructure to validate kernel features.
  • •Work with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify kernel-dependent components (CPUs, NICs) for integration into Arista products.
  • •Integrate new kernel versions for use in EOS/internal development; provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers while helping analyze and fix customer network problems.

Key Requirements

  • •BSc, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 3+ years of related post-graduate work experience.
  • •Expert programming experience in C (C++ knowledge and Python desirable).
  • •Significant hands-on experience troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel.
  • •Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation; familiarity with upstream patching processes.
  • •Understanding of IP networking architecture and strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
