Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and build performant APIs that act as sources of truth across Abnormal systems.
  • •Develop and maintain high-throughput, low-latency ingestion and low-latency services processing 100s of millions of events per day.
  • •Establish and evolve data pipelines and workflows to keep datasets updated reliably and regularly.
  • •Own complex features end-to-end (design, decomposition, execution, launch) and de-risk projects toward milestones.
  • •Provide operational support: testing, debugging, drive reliability via SLAs/SLOs, participate in on-call rotations, and support users through monitoring/alerts.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of overall software engineering experience, with experience building and operating highly scalable, highly available distributed systems and services.
  • •Experience working with data pipelines (event-driven and synchronous) and at least 1 year designing complex distributed systems.
  • •Proficiency in Kafka (or comparable high-throughput messaging/streaming) and hands-on experience with OpenSearch and/or DynamoDB / large-scale search and indexing systems.
  • •Hands-on experience with storage/data pipelines plus familiarity with Airflow (or equivalent workflow orchestration) and production observability with Grafana or Prometheus, including on-call rotations.
  • •Proven end-to-end SDLC ownership (requirements through design, development, production support, and maintenance) and agile experience (scrum and kanban).
