•Provide strategic advice across commercial contracts, environmental, infrastructure, safety, employment, disputes, and intellectual property.
•Support management of major legal and commercial risks for the global Borates business.
•Oversee provision of corporate secretarial services to the Borates group of companies.
•Ensure adherence to the highest compliance standards to protect Rio Tinto and Borates’ reputation.
•Help shape the legal function during potential standalone structuring and transition (if divested).

Travel: Low travel

Salary: USD 201,200 - 276,650 annually

Key Requirements

•Law degree and admission to practice in California (or ability to obtain a California license within one year of starting), plus 6–8 years post-qualification experience.
•Strong corporate/commercial experience across complex contracts and disputes, including exposure to environment, safety, intellectual property, employment, and projects.
•Experience dealing with complex government and multi-stakeholder issues.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to support new commercial models and partnerships.
•Experience leveraging artificial intelligence to deliver legal support, with curiosity for broader AI applications.
