Job Summary

Design, fabricate, and operate test hardware for Starship’s high-pressure oxygen systems, partnering with engineering teams to execute test campaigns that ensure safety and reliability. Build and operationalize novel testing capabilities for material/component flammability, run material/component/subsystem evaluations, and maintain test procedures, sequences, and software. Troubleshoot data acquisition, control, wiring, instrumentation, and fluid/mechanical test systems while directing technicians daily and improving test efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and execute tests at the material, component, and subsystem level to assess hardware performance and survivability.
•Design, fabricate, and operationalize novel test capabilities to assess material/component flammability in high-pressure oxygen environments.
•Define test strategies, develop data, and collaborate with design engineers to qualify test stand and flight hardware.
•Own test campaigns end-to-end, including test plan creation, system activation, test operations, data review, and test stand equipment design/fabrication.
•Develop and maintain test procedures, sequences, scripts, configuration files, and software; operate and troubleshoot DAQ, control systems, wiring, and instrumentation.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or another engineering field.
•1+ years of hands-on testing experience, including internship/club/other hands-on extracurricular experience.
•Work with flight hardware in tight quarters with physical dexterity requirements.
•Must be available to work extended hours, weekends, and shifts as needed.
•Ability to read and apply technical manuals, data reports, mechanical/electrical schematics, and design specifications.
