Job Summary

Lead Robinhood’s full-stack observability roadmap and technical vision for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting. Own the observability control plane end-to-end, including telemetry ingestion pipelines, cost-efficient strategies, and highly available observability components. You’ll lead a team of six engineers to build scalable self-serve observability solutions, establish SLOs to meet 99.9% uptime, and partner with the Command Center on incident workflows and standards.

•Define and execute the full-stack observability roadmap across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting infrastructure.
•Own and evolve the observability control plane, including telemetry ingestion pipelines, cost management, and availability of observability tooling.
•Lead and collaborate with six engineers to build scalable, self-service observability solutions for product and infrastructure teams.
•Establish and maintain SLOs for observability systems to meet or exceed a 99.9% uptime target.
•Partner with the Robinhood Command Center and engineering teams on dependency mapping, incident response workflows, and observability standards.

Key Requirements

•8+ years of software engineering experience owning and delivering large-scale observability or infrastructure platform initiatives.
•Deep expertise in Kubernetes and public cloud environments (AWS preferred), architecting and operating distributed systems at scale.
•Strong coding proficiency in Go, Python, or similar, with experience integrating observability agents and instrumentation into production codebases.
•Experience owning an observability control plane or telemetry pipeline, including ingestion cost management, cardinality control, and signal routing in high-traffic environments.
•Experience with the Vector data pipeline (or equivalent high-throughput log/metrics routing tools) and familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb, Humio, or Sentry.
