Job Summary

Serve as the on-site environmental compliance lead for a Menlo Park facility, managing day-to-day execution across hazardous waste, hazardous materials business plans, air quality, industrial wastewater, and stormwater programs. Own compliance calendars and regulatory reporting via CERS, SMARTS, and other portals, support permits and agency interactions, coordinate vendors, and maintain inspection-ready records. Lead corrective actions, spill prevention and response, and provide compliance training for onsite teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare, review, and submit environmental reports, permit applications, notifications, and compliance documentation on schedule through regulatory portals; maintain compliance calendars.
•Support permit preparation, renewal, modification, and regulatory inquiry response; track and close corrective actions.
•Evaluate program applicability as operations/processes change, including assessments under CARB, DTSC, SWRCB, local AQMD, and CUPA requirements.
•Manage hazardous waste accumulation areas and related compliance (labeling, storage, inspections, shipments, manifests, LDR notifications, and disposal certificates) and coordinate with disposal vendors.
•Maintain and update HMBP and SWPPP, coordinate sampling/monitoring and reporting, support inspections/audits, and lead spill prevention/response and compliance training.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 115,000 - 130,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or Chemistry, plus at least 5 years of hands-on environmental compliance experience.
•Independently own and manage site-level environmental programs in regulated settings such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, compounding pharmacy, peptide or fine chemical manufacturing, medical device, contract research, or laboratory environments.
•Be the primary environmental compliance lead for a regulated facility, including direct regulatory agency interaction and independent permit/reporting submittal preparation.
•Have strong working knowledge of RCRA/DTSC, air quality, industrial wastewater, stormwater, and California-specific programs including CalARP, SB-14, CARB, and the California Unified Program.
•Be able to independently manage multiple programs with minimal supervision; experience with certifications and/or SWPPP and hazardous waste credentials such as CHMM (preferred) and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (valued).
