Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the design, coordination, and execution of test plans to validate equipment functionality, interoperability, security, and performance.
  • •Commission Ciena systems during pre-commissioning and deployment, including equipment inventory assessment, initial commissioning, and end-to-end circuit testing.
  • •Provide customer guidance and operational training on Ciena Network Management Systems (NMS), including enrolling network elements, creating device profiles, backups, and provisioning services.
  • •Escalate and resolve issues with Ciena platforms and collaborate with customer/internal technical teams to analyze optical performance and troubleshoot anomalies.
  • •Deliver accurate project deliverables, including configuration/provisioning/testing documentation and support greenfield network implementation optimization of span/channel parameters.

Key Requirements

  • •U.S. Citizenship is required and you must hold an Active Secret security clearance (Top Secret preferred).
  • •10+ years of experience with low-speed network access interfaces and terminations (e.g., T1/E-1/DS3/OCx).
  • •Strong knowledge of optical and packet/network architectures, including SONET, DWDM, ROADM/nOADM, Ethernet provisioning, and IP/MPLS protocols (MPLS-TP).
  • •Hands-on experience with fiber optics (ISP patching/connectors and OSP familiarity/OTDR) and the ability to work in a lab environment with network diagrams and cabling guides.
  • •Experience with Ciena products (preferred: Ciena 6500 DWDM/OTN, Route Switch, Site Manager, MCP/Navigator, SAOS) and the ability to document and train customers.
