Build and operate Abnormal’s next-generation SMTP relay harness as part of the Inline Mailflow team within Message Platform. Design core MTA infrastructure for scalability, IP management, encryption, and DMARC support; co-build production services and ramp toward full ownership. Translate customer requirements into reliable relay configurations, own tier-0 mail flow services with on-call responsibilities, and help define the broader mail flow platform architecture and reliability practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and implement core components of the SMTP relay harness, including MTA infrastructure, scalability, IP management, encryption, and DMARC support through production.
•Co-build the production relay with existing infrastructure engineers and ramp toward full ownership of defined services.
•Collaborate with PMs and Solutions Architects to translate customer requirements into reliable relay configurations for inbound and outbound use cases.
•Own and operate tier-0 mail flow services handling high volumes of enterprise email, including on-call rotations and reliability improvements.
•Contribute to technical design discussions for how the relay integrates with existing inline products and broader Mail Flow platform architecture, plus knowledge sharing and runbooks.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 149,200 - 214,500 annually

Key Requirements

•BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field.
•3+ years of backend software development experience with distributed systems and production services.
•Hands-on experience with Go and/or Python.
•Experience building features from scratch and owning them in production while balancing operational work.
•Comfortable with ambiguity and 0-to-1 projects; experience working with distributed teams and asynchronous, written communication.
