Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee business and legal affairs facets of in-house and third-party nonfiction productions and their licensing workflows.
  • •Negotiate and draft a wide range of production and business agreements, including deal terms and supporting production forms.
  • •Manage production-legal and clearance issues for Nonfiction projects and provide legal and business affairs counsel.
  • •Work directly with productions, producers, and talent representatives and coordinate communication across departments.
  • •Provide in-house or outside counsel support for nonfiction-focused network/streaming/production work (preferred).

Key Requirements

  • •At least seven (7) years of business and legal affairs experience in development, production, and licensing of nonfiction content.
  • •Direct experience negotiating and drafting deal terms and agreements, including production services agreements, above-the-line/below-the-line agreements, format licenses, option agreements, and production forms.
  • •J.D. (or international equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
  • •Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills for working with productions, producers, and talent representatives.
  • •Knowledge of substantive legal areas and customary business practices relevant to nonfiction productions; ability to work proactively and independently under tight timeframes.
